Curriculum
View Ridge uses Seattle Public Schools curriculum and Washington learning standards.
- English language arts: McGraw Hill Emerge!, adopted for K–5 beginning in 2026–27. SPS describes it as a structured-literacy program aligned with the science of reading and combining foundational skills with language comprehension.
- Mathematics: enVision Mathematics, with kindergarten units in counting, addition/subtraction foundations, shapes, measurement and numbers to 100.
- Science: Next Generation Science Standards-aligned materials and investigations.
- Specialists: art, music, physical education and library for all grades, plus technology learning.
- Social-emotional learning: integrated instruction, positive behavior support and Universal Design for Learning are described in the school improvement plan.
Progress tracking
Seattle elementary families receive progress reports through The Source at the end of three trimesters, normally in December, March and June. Kindergarten reporting addresses social-emotional learning, language arts, math, science, social studies, PE and arts.
View Ridge's 2025–26 improvement plan identifies:
- WaKIDS for kindergarten-entry information.
- DIBELS universal foundational-literacy screening in K–2.
- MAP reading and math.
- Curriculum-embedded assessments.
- Elementary Progress Reports.
- Classroom work, observation and Seesaw portfolios for younger children.
The plan says teachers use assessment data for flexible grouping, targeted intervention and extension. Families should ask how often each assessment occurs in kindergarten and what score reports or narrative explanations they receive.
School improvement plan summary
The 2025–26 Continuous School Improvement Plan reports 294 students in its OSPI snapshot and identifies three priority areas:
- Joyful, safe and anti-racist learning environments: culturally responsive practice, student identity and integrated social-emotional learning.
- Classroom instruction and academic success: foundational literacy, inclusive Tier 1 instruction, Universal Design for Learning and targeted data-based support.
- Family and community engagement: stronger two-way communication, classroom newsletters and TalkingPoints multilingual communication.
The plan reports strong overall results and climate responses, while also recognizing academic disparities for economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities and students of color. It calls for disaggregated data review, culturally responsive instruction and stronger support structures.
