It also supplies the district standards and adopted-program context for McDonald International, which adapts instruction for half-day Spanish or Japanese immersion. English language arts
Seattle Public Schools approved McGraw Hill Emerge! for K–5 implementation beginning in 2026–27, replacing older district materials. SPS selected it for:
- Structured literacy and alignment with the science of reading.
- Explicit foundational-skill development.
- Language comprehension and integrated reading/writing.
- Flexible support for different learners.
- Culturally responsive topics and inclusive authorship.

Mathematics
The current K–8 program is enVision Mathematics. Kindergarten concentrates on:
- Number names and counting sequence through 100.
- One-to-one correspondence and cardinality.
- Comparing quantities and numerals.
- Composing and decomposing numbers to 10 and teen numbers.
- Addition and subtraction foundations and facts within 5.
- Two- and three-dimensional shapes.
- Measurement and comparison of length, height, distance, weight, volume and time.
- Mathematical discussion, visual models, problem solving and authentic situations.
The district publishes a full kindergarten unit sequence in the archived math page. Student digital materials are normally accessed through the licensed Realize platform and Clever.
Science
The adopted K–8 program is Amplify Science. Kindergarten has three units:
- Needs of Plants and Animals: Milkweed and Monarchs — habitats, plant needs, interdependent living systems and life-cycle patterns.
- Pushes and Pulls: Designing a Pinball Machine — force, motion, cause and effect, design testing and mathematical analysis.
- Sunlight and Weather: Solving Playground Problems — sunlight energy, Earth's surface, weather, models and local weather data.
Amplify assessments include prior-knowledge checks, observation during investigations, end-of-chapter tasks, student self-assessment, critical-juncture checks and end-of-unit targeted conversations for K–1.
Progress tracking
Seattle elementary schools use three trimesters. The family guide lists progress reports in December, March and June, with a parent-teacher conference in November. Families access reports through The Source.

Bryant and View Ridge school plans additionally identify WaKIDS, DIBELS, MAP, curriculum-embedded assessments, teacher observation and student work.
