Summary
Concord is a small-district PK–4 school with a low schoolwide student/teacher ratio, daily PE and unusually broad documented supports. Unlike the “move into Darien” shorthand, eligibility depends on the property's Cass SD 63 tax boundary; Darien addresses can belong to other districts. Nonresident tuition attendance requires superintendent and board consideration and is not guaranteed.
Enrollment, academics and diversity
| Measure | Value | Source/year |
|---|---|---|
| Total / kindergarten enrollment | 460 / 63 | NCES 2024–25 |
| Classroom teachers / ratio | 37.47 FTE / 12.28:1 | NCES 2024–25; not class size |
| Diversity index | 0.52 | Calculated from NCES 2024–25 race/ethnicity counts |
| Supplied math / reading snapshot | 69% / 68% | User-provided third-party values; year/method not verified |
The district's March 2026 update reported 68% mathematics growth and said Concord missed Illinois “Exemplary” status by less than 0.5 percentage point. Growth is not the same metric as proficiency, and Illinois results should not be compared directly with Washington SBAC percentages.
Kindergarten, programs and logistics
- Full-day kindergarten includes art, music and daily 30-minute PE. PE focuses on movement patterns, spatial awareness, safety, cooperation and fitness.
- MAP gifted enrichment is a 90-minute weekly pull-out plus classroom differentiation. Accelerated placement can include subject or grade acceleration.
- Supports include ELL, math intervention, reading specialists, psychologist, social worker, counselor, OT, special education and speech/language services.
- Skills for Learning/Second Step is taught weekly; tiered social-emotional intervention is available through the social worker.
- Ivy League Kids offers flexible 1–5 day and as-needed care. Published 2026–27 charges include a $275 Concord registration fee and $300 bus fee; confirm all fees and waivers for 2027–28.
Fit considerations
Possible strengths: small district, low ratio, daily PE, robust intervention and flexible care. Main concerns: school ends after grade 4, address-boundary complexity, fees, an early day and relocation far from Seattle. Next action: verify the ten-digit property index number and full feeder path before housing.
